2016 Rolling Hip-Hop Thread

See I liked Cilvia but it’s nowhere near as polished as this one. You could see the potential on some tracks (West Savannah / Heavenly Father are proper jams) but he definitely wasn’t the finished article yet. Guess that’s why he called it a demo…

Definitely see the Curren$y comparison- think he even references him on on of the songs. Someone on Twitter described it as “Like J Cole if J Cole didn’t completely ignore his southern roots”. I fucking hate J Cole but definitely see that line. Rashad’s got that drawl and the Outkast / UGK feel to the beats.

Haven’t been able to get into Trav idk what it is

NxWorries album on Stones Throw could be good. Anderson.Paak has been everywhere this year. Suede has been around a minute but is still a jam

sounds like a song off the paak album. lo key and nice enough.

Did everyone from the old RHH thread make it over?

A new track from the record just dropped. Also sounds good

Fucking loving The Sun’s Tirade and it’s woken me up to Cilvia Demo as well which I never got on with first time around.

Did we talk about Dreezy’s album in the last thread? Can’t remember.

Anyway its a good record, nice mix of trap with more R&B focused tunes without feeling contrived and avoiding the usual major label debut pitfalls.

Only listened once so far but loved it on initial inspection.

Have you heard this bay area album from YMTK called All the Right Places?

Def belongs in that same category hip hop/r&b mix. Def has some nods to Ty Dolla $'s sound. Even down to his acoustic jam Rolling Stoned

Gold Rush is really gorgeous

No Rest and No Job On The Mob are perfect regional snapshots

Still working out how to use the new boards huh? Me too.

Have never even heard of this guy so will definitely check it out. Anything thats remotely similar to Ty has me interested, can’t get enough of his vibe.

New Mac Miller album is decent. Can’t think of an artist who’s improved so consistently over a fairly short career

although this does remind me a lot of

lol yeah its like the same song m/l

Mac’s carved himself a nice career path after being a joke imo when he started
