this is really nice from a new Field Music side project. Actually out January next year but it’s too too early for a new thread

ha! These bloody musicians and their forward planning

The twinkly piano that runs through this is lovely!

Interesting. Really loved the first album, and the show they did for Greenpeace in 2011 was fantastic. However the debut was arguable the last great album that Albarn released, and that was 11 years ago…

Colour me intrigued

Ah, just listening to the debut again. What a joy. Seemed at the time that Albarn would just go on churning out classic albums every 2 or so years for the rest of time.

Weirdly getting a Funeral-era Arcade Fire vibe off the title track this time, which is weird because I’ve never felt that before in the 10 or so years I’ve been listening to it

Not a fan of The Magic Whip?

I like it for what it is, but I certainly wouldn’t count it as a great album. Pretty sure I ranked the Blur albums on that thread last year and completely forgot it existed until prompted by another’s poster. Think that neatly summarises my position on it

Ah fair! I mean it’s been a while since I’ve listened to it so that might be clouding my judgement but I remember it worked well as a consistent cohesive whole that sometimes strayed slightly too close to sound like Albarn’s Everyday Robots but the highs of Go Out and Thought I Was A Spaceman absolutely soar - both tracks which I regularly return to and rate quite highly.

https://youtu.be/6p1mq19htTc it’s alright this it just isn’t as good or as lolloping as the first album which was one of the things I really liked about it

I always forget just how stacked Q4 is for good /volume of albums most years.

The new track is fucking fantastic:

Quite different to Punish,Honey, but I’m way into it. I thought Vessel had stopped because of the amount of time between albums, glad that’s not the case

All the music sites give it 7/10 to save them having to factor it into their lists
