How do you write off a film after ten minutes (it’s not shit)

Really enjoyed Have a Nice Day. The bungling criminals clambering over one another to recover money thing has been done better in other places but it looks and sounds great. Everything after Yellow Eye waking back up is terrific.

Really interested in this but really struggling to find screenings - did I miss it or has it just started coming out?

Came out here 23rd March, though I think it only came out on a tiny number of cinemas

Think it got an exceptionally limited release over here - only one place in Bristol is showing it and it’s only on for two nights. The website says where it’s on and when, it’s distributed by Mubi too so will be on there sooner or later.

Sweet it’s coming to me soon so I’ll keep an eye out! Ta

Filmhouse has it at the end of the month:

it was badly acted and derivative, not sure why they thought bloke from the office would be a good casting choice. there was a hilariously botched attempt to ‘do a kubrick’ right at the start. life is too short for films that amateurish.

Having Chris Finch from The Office in it is one of the best things about it

Saw American Mary last night and it was pretty shit. It wasn’t scary/gory/whatever enough to be a horror or funny enough to be a black comedy and then it just ends when someone who’s only briefly mentioned once before stabs the titular Mary and of course we need a flashback to that scene because we can’t possibly remember what happened about 20 minutes ago

Journeyman - felt like a Sunday night TV film rather than a feature but it does have some effecting moments The bit with the washing machine :open_mouth: and couldn’t fault the performances. Didn’t buy Paddy as a professional boxer at all, though.

Unsane Pretty ridiculous but oddly compelling. Claire Foy gives it her all even when the script goes off a cliff late on.

Isao Takahata, who directed Grave of the Fireflies and a few other Studio Ghibli films, died. :frowning:

On the subject of GotF, this is definitely worth a watch

I’ve never seen Grave of the Fireflies because I never want to be that depressed, but Only Yesterday and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya are both excellent.

I loved Isle of Dogs so much.

I really liked this, too. I almost didn’t see it, because I had to spend a lot of the evening just waiting around (I came into town for work that morning, and then the film didn’t start until around 9pm), but it was totally worth the achey legs from prolonged walking around.

sorry i’m late but just watched Lady Bird yesterday
loved it
Laurie Metcalf should be in so much more stuff

Enjoyed Ghost Stories. Made me shit my pants at least a couple of times.

Liked Paul Whitehouse’s subtle nod to his shite Aviva ads too…
