What’s the problem?

Can often find really good obscure films on there in decent quality.

Rarely watch films which look too scummy…there’s honestly some good stuff on there.

Obviously you’d choose other platforms for mainstream stuff.

Yeah Nine Queens looked as fine as it would on dvd and the subtitles were fine

There’s quite a lot of old b-movies on there. The blurriness is like watching them on VHS!

Bloody hell mate not all of us can afford blu ray projectors!

The thing is, Tracy isn’t much of a ‘white saviour’ at all - her intervention merely serves to get her a deportation notice so it’s not actually very effective on its own, and the day is only really saved when Atari turns up and the hacker kid stops all the dogs from getting killed - she is pretty annoying though.

Attempted white saviour maybe haha? I take your point that she isn’t very effective at it though. Either way I think it’s fair to say she really didn’t need to be in the film.

That’s true, or at least made her nicer. Her attitude sits oddly in a film whose message is ‘don’t be a dick to others’ and where even the bad guy mayor has the capability to do something good

Well this was miles better than The Square. Bloody Cannes jury.

so I’ve had sucha lazy weekend and watched quite a bit

as mention, Ghost Stories was really infruriating and shit, still angry now

watched the remake of Nine Queens, Criminal. it took out half the stuff that made the original interesting and gripping. really lightweight and didn’t work

The Stunt Man - Barbara Hershey is really great. good film but overlong, and I don’t really like films about making films

El Incidente- intriguing Spanish thing about two groups of people, one set are stuck in a neverending staircase, the other on a never ending road. Works quite well if the ending was a bit weak - it’s on Netflix so worth a watch

The Limehouse Golem - disappointed in this, didn’t grab me at all and quite dull. Would work as a BBC Christmas drama

Did you watch it? I love the Descent.

Just been to see A Quiet Place - it was an enjoyable jump scare film, but the plot is basically Signs.

Also recently saw Unsane - thought it would be more ‘oooh is she or isn’t she’ but it’s very straightforward and the epilogue bit was unecessary

I really enjoyed You Were Never Really Here - had the same type of feel for me as Good Time.

Three years of Picturehouse membership purchases. Unfortunately not completely accurate though, did NOT pay to see La La Land three times. Think I probs went to Cineworld just as often over the same period too.

This hasn’t worked has it

Rainy Sunday in the cinema

Thoroughbreds - Loved it, anything that references Heathers, To Die For etc. is always going to win my heart. Loved how icy it was – spent most of it chuckling away to myself in the front row while the rest of the (not empty) cinema kept stone silent which made me feel like Robert de Niro in Cape Fear. LOVED the last scene.

Wonderstruck – Had to see it as it was Haynes but the poor reviews are justified. It doesn’t gel well at all and despite being visually striking I got quite bored.

Blockers – A gay character that’s dealt with compassionately and not the butt of jokes! Well written and believable teenagers! John Cena’s legs! I enjoyed it very much and probably wouldn’t have watched it if it were not for the positive comments on here so, cheers.
