Hmmm, based on these ratings for Dunkirk and Sacred Deer looks like I’ll be loving Lady Bird and hating I, Tonya!

does letterboxd have an app? would be much easier to log stuff that way

Yeah, has been out on iPhone for yonks, just came out on Android recently.

I watched Felicite, it was pretty good the music scenes were kind of hypnotic, I could have probably watched an entire film of her just dancing and singing tbh.

Alongside other rural set films - God’s Own Country, Dark River, Wuthering Heights (Arnold) - I think The Levelling marks an interesting shift from the estate to the farm for British working-class narratives. You might also want to check out For Those in Peril and Better Things, both REALLY excellent but don’t get much attention.

Yeah I thought that as well and felt it quite an important film given that.

Thanks for the tips on the other films - I’ll check those out.

been trying to remember my password or the email address i used for this for like 20 mins now

Going to see The Man Who Sacrificed A Deer this afternoon finally.

Kong: Skull Island - there are a lot of monsters, but that’s its only charm - it’s pretty much a waste of time. who’d have thunk it? still kinda looking forward to the upcoming installments in the MonsterVerse (Godzilla film with King Gidorah, Rodan and Mothra! and Godzilla vs King Kong), even though I should feel embarassed even thinking a sentence like that

All About Eve - really enjoyed it. they don’t make em like this any more do they, eh? eh??

watched a bunch of other shite but I won’t bore you with the details

I stayed in on NYE and watched Baywatch (2017 version) and Spice World for the first time. It was a long evening.

The Guardian did an article on Phantom Thread the other day. I’m not sure it’s wise doing an article and opening it up to comments when the film in question isn’t out in the UK for a month and is only out in four US cinemas. Unsurprisingly, it sounds like many of the comments are the usual idiots, in this instance getting mad about use of the term ‘toxic masculinity’

Check out Radiator too. Very much about the bleak country life.

I would also say Catch Me Daddy which is fantastic

So no Super Furry Animals connection then? :frowning:

Obviously these threads are meant for discussion about new releases, but in the absence of a catchall ‘Any old shite i’ve watched’ thread i’d just like to say i watched Robocop again last night and it was very bloody good.

I watched Bright last night. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Struggling to think of a worse film.
