January (roughly) releases you’re looking forward to?
Downsizing The Post Three Billboards… Jupiter’s Moon Darkest Hour All the Money in the World
The Killing of a Sacred Deer Liked this, easily his strongest film after Dogtooth and a lot more focused than the Lobster. For a while I thought it was gonna be his same old bag of tricks but wow, it got nasty really quickly eh. Plenty to chew on there.
You’ll be pleased to hear they’re doing a sequel then
WHY
Loads of people watched it on Netflix! God knows why, Max Landis is an awful hack writer (though he’s not writing the sequel)
Netflix has had some shockers on recently The Vault was also pretty terrible.
IIRC, the idea of these threads is to talk about films released this month…so our schedule is:
Next Week: All the Money in the World Week 15th -22nd: Three Billboards Week 23rd-30th: Was going to be 12 Strong…but I’m not a big war film fan…and people on here seem to be excited for Coco
FWIW I saw Manchester by the Sea yesterday and thought it was great.
What? Why limit it to new releases only?
From this thread Film thread: Monthly or rolling forever (yearly)? In which there was a fairly conclusive poll supporting monthly threads.
Just seen that you voted for yearly threads
watched Eurotrip last night. So bad but quite funny. I must have seen it 3 or 4 times now (always late night ITV3 when there’s nothing else on) what is wrong with me.
Mods pls delete all chat about films not released in Jan 2018
Nope.
Feels like you’re throwing me under a bus here…
the new one or the original?
Last Flag Flying completely took me by surprise. Figured it would be a little dull, and standard Oscar-bait. I LOVED IT. Carrell & Cranston in particular. It was touching and funny, and never mawkish (some may disagree with that, mind).
Probably my favourite film of screener season.
yes! i’ve been waiting for someone to find out how bad it is
looks utter dog shit
Which is best: Logan; Lucky; or Logan Lucky?
(sub-question, is that the correct use of semi-colons)
I was never for a thread for discussing only films released in one month tbh. Just a new general film thread each month to make it more accessible.
Three Billboards for sure, was booked for an Unlimited preview screening last night but didn’t go.
Downsizing looks like it could go either way really.
Seeing Hostiles, Brad’s Status and All the Money in the World this weekend.
The Vault with James Franco? That came out ages ago
