Yeah I mean it’s… largely fine. Obvs I would like to remain in the EU/Single Market so I’m sympathetic to its content. If Labour moderates want to organise/campaign to stay in the Single Market, that’s… ok? What got me was the hilarity of strategy in going “right so we want to ask the Members about THIS”, which is remarkable in its hypocrisy.
The thing is in the next couple of years there could be an issue between the Membership and the Leadership on Brexit. It’s not altogether likely, but not unlikely either. If it’s going to happen it’ll happen organically, just sit and wait.
It’s hilarious how transparent the whole “ah… members? you want to be listened to? Well, we’re finally listening really seriously! on this one subject” thing is.
Well it’s both isn’t it. Hence why I said in my second paragraph that if they DO want to undermine the relationship between the leadership and membership, then they’re best off just waiting and seeing what happens. If it’s going to happen, it’ll happen organically.
Yeah I mean, that’s politics for you, but there’s fewer blatant and laughable attempts at it than this. Labour ‘Moderates’ - continuing not to learn since 2015.
Listening to Pienar’s politics in the car (more fool me, right) and Pritti Patel just admitted to knowing about the level of abuse in Oxfam last year. Apparently her actions were to go and have a moan at the UN rather than do the things that are happening now to investigate and hold the relevant people accountable.
It first came to light in 2010. It’s no surprise that it suddenly got a front page splash in the Times in the same week that Rees-Mogg delivered that petition on overseas aid.
it’s weird how transparently the media and the government collude and coordinate leaks and stuff these days. i dunno if i’m just older and better able to spot it or they just don’t give a shit about people knowing anymore.
Aye. It’s the sheer disingenuous of Patel I’m talking about though… “yeah, I’ve known about hundreds of cases for ages. What did I do about it? Oh, I had a bit of a moan at the UN. Yeah, I was a world leader on resolving this problem.”
Lest we forget Westminster is one of the borough’s in London with the highest number of properties worth more than 1 million pounds and has almost the lowest council tax in the entire country.
