Just like how most 65+ won’t even remember capital punishment in this country but they still have a massive hard-on for it
weird you should say that, was just thinking how the brexit vote really was driven by an exceptionally bitter and resentful view of the modern world. the trump win too, i guess.
i know generational warfare stuff is reactionary and we shouldn’t do it, but fucking hell the boomers have a lot to answer for.
what’s that tweet about how every white person in britain over 55 thinks they personally helped win world war 2? fuck them.
Alas, it doesn’t work like that.
It’s exactly like the WWII stuff as well tbh. Neither of my granddads who fought would ever talk about it due to how harrowing it was, but people who weren’t there seem to fetishise it.
Indeed
I really hope that forcing the younger generation to learn how to shoot guns as part of their intergenerational war comes back to bite the baby boomers on the arse.
Looks like they’re planning to sell them, and lease them back…
I don’t think I’ve ever typed this before but…
Slow hand clap?
Was this from when Georgia was on celebrity blind dates with Jack Monroe? Probably one of the most frustrating things I’ve seen.
Wonder how much truth there is in this: Brexit, bullying and transgender rights: Why are women turning their backs on the Labour Party? | The Independent | The Independent [CAVEAT - polls about voting intention this far out from a GE are largely meaningless]. Gender along with age was a key determinant of voting Labour in 2017 after all…
I’ve been following this a fair bit and it’s really hard to tell. On one hand, I’d find it hard to imagine that this particular issue would lead to a lot of people leaving the party but then a related campaign has at this moment in time collected over £22,000.
It’s worrying that their support has dropped, but it doesn’t seem to be going to any of the other parties -
I think that’s a fairly common trend between elections, no?
What’s the LibDem position on the self-identification of trans women?
Yeah I don’t know how much it is a “live” issue for most women. Although it’s very much a live issue for centre-left women who write for nominally broadsheet newspapers so… maybe there’s your answer.
I have not heard anything about that.
Sure. Usually these things should be ignored but this particular (possible) trend piqued my interest.
Only thing I can find with a VERY quick Google is a Times leader from a fortnight ago which claimed Pidcock was anti self-id with no supporting evidence.
What’s kind of interesting/worrying is the support that the campaign is getting from Mumsnet because I’d actually say they were fairly close to the mainstream.
I think this is it - it’s an issue that gets a disproportionate amount of (scaremongering) coverage in the media because there are a lot of TERFs in the commentariat.
Aye. And furthermore I have no idea to what extent Mumsnet represents your average female UK voter (either by volume or by attitude).
She’s only been in parliament for about 6 months but I do like what I’ve seen of Pidcock so far. Seems very bright and thoughtful.
