Made me think of this. Sure he’s hamming it up a bit, but I still watched loads of these…

Yeah, my son is into that and we listen to it a lot. As in, it’s the only album we play in the car. I’m so sick of it now.

He also likes precisely 4 90s tracks.
Biggie - Hypnotise (which is on the Spider-Verse film, not the soundtrack album)
Black Sheep - Choice is Yours (same as above)
KRS - Sound of the Police (on the Angry Birds film)
3rd Bass - Gas Face (likes the bit at the end where they make the funny noise “Wadda we think about Hammer?!”)
But that’s literally it.

ha man i love me some good reaction videos. such a dumb youtube phenomenon that i cant enough of for whatever reason.

tbf i wish i had video of my initial reactions to some of the big game changers in my life lol

Someone sent me the Shook Ones one and I rolled my eyes, then sat through about 7 videos.

think im on video 5 at this point lol. just got through the notorious thugs one. that song was such a landmark song for me my reaction was probably very similar.

yeah i had to hide my cd collection from my parents. my parents still have zero clue of my love for the raps. my pops is a bit of jazz head tho so all was not lost.

my kids def like some hip hop ive shown them lately. spiderverse has been on rotation with the kids for a while yea. my youngest (3) ask for sunflower at least 10 times per day… still. i think this was the first song that really stuck with my older kids years back:

their current favs (that are some of my favs) are:

  • clyde carson - slow down
  • too short - blow the whistle (usually get to the chorus once)
  • ti - top back
  • naughty by nature - feel me flow
  • p lo - sneeze (less gross version of tygas taste)
  • outkast - humble mumble (they love the intro)
  • myka 9 - delusions of granduer (the laugh at his voice)
  • mop - ante up (they just like to watch me act a fool)

honestly they probably just like to watch me get hyped up and dance.

they get pretty bored with anything lyrical without a real standout hook. nice that spotify has a lot of classic hip hop songs with radio edits. i dont really care about the swears with the oldest but hes actually pretty sensitive about it at this point so im fine keeping him/them young and innocent as long as possible ha.

As far as I can see, all of the best rap/hip-hop LPs this year have been released by artists whose names follow the format: two syllable name + one syllable name:

Freddie Gibbs*
Danny Brown
Little Simz
Billy Woods

*features include Killer Mike and Pusha T and they work too.

Note not every 2 syllable then 1 syllable artist has had a triumphant year cough Kanye West cough

New Roc Marciano album due any day. This new Griselda album is very decent too. Shaping up to be a solid end to the year/decade…

Had kind of forgotten about Beans and Antipop Consortium. Great interview on Dad Bod Rap Pod, and his new album is solid.

This is getting loads of play from me. No samples used - all created from scratch by a guy who I think is from the UK. Really nicely put together. Only downside is an Eminem verse which is just awful, but considerately tacked on right at the end.

Juice WRLD dead at 21. What an insane, dangerous time for young rappers.
