People are really sleeping on this album. While I have to be in the right mood for it, I’ve come around to thinking it might actually be their best.

SECT - Plagues Upon Plagues
Members of Cursed, Earth Crisis and Fall Out Boy (!!) sum up our world in resigned, angry hardcore.
Guilt Trip - Severance
Riffy beatdown hardcore from the UK. On Roadrunner. They should be as big as Turnstile imo.
Gleemer - End of the Nail
Not their best, but I love Gleemer’s emo/shoegaze mix. A bit more acoustic guitar than previous records.
Hum - Inlet
Surprise comeback from the 90s spacerock/shoegaze/alt champions. Made 2020 somewhat worthwhile for me.
Fake Eyes - Saccharine Smile
One of the best bands doing that Deftones/Hum/Failure/Catherine Wheel thing right now.
Final Light - Final Light
Surprise collaboration between Cult of Luna chap and Perturbator. Good stuff.
All Out War - Celestial Rot
Reliably excellent metalcore about how everything continues to be fucked.
Balance and Composure - With You In Spirit
Awesome comeback from the mid-2010s alt/emo heroes.
Ringworm - Seeing Through Fire
A short, nasty ripper from the most consistent band in metalcore. Their best since the Victory years!

Finding out recently that they don’t even have 300 monthly listeners on Spotify is what pushed me into making this thread. A lock for my list.
I only got back into music properly at the end of 2024 after kind of drifting away from music nerdery in 2014 or so. So this period is mostly a black hole for me.
My list is 2024 heavy for that reason, but I am looking forward to seeing the results of this and hopefully filling some gaps.
