Ah, ok.

I need to do a bit of a trawl online for some new ones. This is pretty good…

20 Kettlebell Swings (switch arm at 10)
10 Goblet Squats
10 Push-Ups (any variation)

5 rounds then 1 minute rest, repeat 5 times

Oh awesome - cheers man! My wife will know what all of these are!

I’ve had a nausea bug, then a sore throat bug and now I have a head cold. I’ve not done a thing- nearly went for a swim last week but thought better of it as I know from bitter experience that even a wee gentle sesh can totally knock me back. Some folk seem ok to exercise when under the weather, but sadly not me.
i’m going to really try to rest and get sleep this weekend so that I can get to the gym once or twice next week. Long term > short term gains.

I did a kb class years ago with a terrible teacher who didn’t correct all of the life threatening (not just my life- also the lives of the people in throwing distance of my KB) mistakes I was making. The PT I had last year showed me how to do it properly and how you harness your energy from your core and hips and now I LOVE IT.

you might slag it off! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I had my eye on it last year before it went on sale. My old bike is battered to the point of being unsafe to cycle on now so needed a new one.

Yeah I have exercised with a cold before and ended up making things worse so i’m keen not to push it. I had 2 colds in December too!

I will be doing the same. Resting up this weekend, then back on it once or twice next week. I prefer a slow ease into it!

Hope your head cold goes soon! :love_letter:

Squats, deadlifts and lunges

For squats I mix it up with back squats using a barbell, goblet squats with a dumbbell and sumo squats with a kettlebell to keep it interesting, there’s other stuff too like front-loaded squats (hate them, they gave me bruises on my arms) but tbh bodyweight squats are good on their own and need no equipment

Agree although have to be a bit careful with squats because for some people (like me) it predominantly seems to work the quads. Walking lunges with dumbbells will work, as will barbell hip thrusts although that might be a wee bit advanced. If you have access to resistance bands then glute bridges etc can be a good way of working the bum outside of the gym. If you put glute routine or glute exercises into YouTube or instagram you’ll get a million videos.

Also, I vividly remember on Love island a few years ago someone was complimenting Montana’s bum and she replied ‘I SQUAT’ and it was a bit of an awakening to me that people don’t just look like that out of luck.

Funny, barbell hip thrusts are what work my quads rather than my glutes, probably to do with my overly tight hips though (also hard to do if you’ve got a belly like me as the bar doesn’t go on my hips like it’s meant to)

My PT makes me do them using a leg extension machine so you have the pad across your hips rather that a bar. It’s pretty inelegant to manoeuvre into though.

In 2020, I have:

Played three games of football (totalling around 3hrs) and scored eight goals.

Look forward to updates next week.

Watched a great Doc on netflix called Game Changers last week. All about diet, or more specifiaclly a plant based diet.
I knew a fair bit but this was really eye opening. Highly recommend checking it out.

I was also initially very impressed by it but after a second watch and doing a bit of reading I have heavily revised my opinion. Whilst the documentary is very interesting and certainly raises some points worth investigating further - please bear in mind that it is essentially a propaganda piece, sponsored by people who are very heavily invested in the vegan industry. Some of the ‘science’ they reference in the documentary is at best misleading and at worst nonsense.

Sorry :slightly_smiling_face:

so you’re saying i should ditch my new strict vegan diet?!

Unless you’re desperate for all those extra erections

someone at work who has ridiculed me FOR YEARS for being vegan (or partly vegan) watched this and is now full vegan for fitness purposes. Knob!

Don’t get me wrong I think there’s so much benefit to a vegan diet and I do think there is some validity to the documentary I just think it needs to be taken with a big pinch of salt. It’s essentially a marketing campaign.

Also, I hope you ridicule him back.
