I’ve just spent a good few minutes on my knees (steady) on the pavement outside of our house trying to switch our water mains supply off.
The bad news is that there’s a water leak in our back yard. The good news is that it’s not coming into the house, and it’s unlikely to be our water supply, so the neighbours are legally responsible for mending it.
I wouldn’t normally be pleased about this but we had a right stress a few years back trying to arrange for a water leak to be fixed on someone else’s driveway - at the time, the supply pipe was shared between ourselves and two other neighbours. One of the properties is tenanted, and the landlady said some really unpleasant racist stuff about our neighbours, and made our lives really difficult when we were trying to resolve the issue. As a result of all of this (and as part of some other work we were having done on the house), we had our water supply rerouted so we didn’t have to deal with our neighbours being racist and shit.
