Immense show last night, really enjoyed it. Felt a bit old when they referenced playing the same room thirteen years ago, and I could remember it clearly!

We got Crash Tactics as well, which they don’t seem to have played before on this tour. Banger.

(They played it in London as well fwiw, doesn’t stop the “Banger” element being completely on the money though)

Reckon WWEA and the tours around it are about as in-love with an artist as I’ve ever been

My interest in them dropping off entirely right when they went electronic and I was very much in love with IDM vibes … not so well timed

Wild Light turning 10 makes me feel somewhat wistful as following their US support tour for The Cure, WWEA and Wild Light felt like the moment they should have tipped over into being massive and it never quite happened…

I half get this but mainly think they occupy that nice space where the exact amount of people who would be into them know them and are into them

And it’s not the same as making smash hit records that let you play bigger venues, but I’m sure doing No Man’s Sky meant they had a bigger/different reach than before as well

indie band video game soundtrack career move ftw!

Last time I saw them was during the second album cycle and the sound was complete shit. Last night more than made up for it - it was great to hear how they reshaped those older songs a bit (I still think Retreat! Retreat! is a song they’ve never bettered for maximal euphoria), and the ones I was less familiar with led me to listen to WWEA on the drive back (amazing - last track is perfect late night driving music), so I guess I’ve got a lot of catching up to do! Agree that they should be huge. Certainly up there in the pantheon of post-rock greats anyway.

The “Test” tour in the run up to WWEA’s release was absolutely incredible, even if the gig I went to Dingwalls was curt short by a power cut!

One of my favourite shows of all time, that. Couldn’t pick a better way to build anticipation for a record than, what felt like at the time, causing a power outage just as you’re about to crescendo during one of the new absolute bangers.
