This is very disappointing. Really enjoy Tom Robinson’s show. He’s got a lovely manner, genuinely loves music, and I really like the thematic shows where the audience chooses songs related to the theme. A great way to finish off the weekend (along with the Freak Zone afterwards).

Getting rid of him and keeping Liz Kershaw is a terrible move.

It seems it just his Saturday show.

Ah, that’s great to hear, thanks. His Sunday show really kind of warms my heart. Absolutely not trying to be cool in any way, just a show by geeky music fans for geeky music fans.

Hopefully she’ll be moved to about 4 in the morning.

Don’t give Kershaw fucking MORE things to do, for god’s sake.

I think they’ve cancelled her Saturday show - and moved her to a 4 episode series of 1 hour shows on a Sunday. Feels like she is on the way out

FUCKETY BYE, LIZ

The ā€œPROPER MUSIC WITH GUITARSā€ crowd are going to be fumin’ but that Saturday lineup looks banging.

Bit sad for Tom Robinson but glad he’s keeping that Sunday slot (and presumably standing in at zero notice for literally everyone on the station as usual). Wonder if there’s going to be any other (national) broadcast outlet for BBC Introducing now, though? Could kind of see it working as a download think on BBC Sounds, I guess.

Tom Robinson still has his Introducing Mixtape show on Monday mornings

I don’t really know Jamz Supernova but even at a quick glance that’s gonna be a much smoother transition from Huey than it is at the moment. Kershaw getting a four episode run of one hour shows definitely suggests they’re easing her out. Good.

She’s really good (despite the silly name)

And in for MAH the rest of this week if you fancy a sneak preview.

Yeah with Jamz in that slot I could happily have 6music on from 10am Saturday through to midnight now, other than for the number of news bulletins I’d be sitting through. I think I’d actually rather have adverts than hear the same news reports all day. Or just a bit of silence.

I don’t think I totally understand what they are doing (those tweets are really confusing- why couldn’t they just say what the new schedule will be in one message?) but it looks relatively positive. Less of Brexit Liz and a regular slot for Jamz Supanova who has been great when filling in recently and will make the station a bit younger and more diverse (which is sorely needed).

Hopefully Kershaw is being eased out of the exit door.

I imagine they are easing her out slowly to avoid any ā€œheartbroken radio Liz fired by woke bbc bosses for loving her countryā€ headlines

You can’t help wondering if those sort of considerations are somewhere in the background. They’ll be worrying about the prospect of being sued if they get rid of her and keep a male presenter of a similar age.

Didn’t they make noises about getting rid of her before, and she kicked up a fuss about sexism/ageism? Can’t find a citation, though

She’s definitely had a charmed life having, among other things, been the presenter of a show that was routinely faking competition winners and having been accused of harassing a colleague who committed suicide, as well just being absolutely awful. There must be some explanation for how she’s survived but I don’t know what it is.

She works for the BBC. It’s like the Public Sector, once you’re in, you’re in for life.
