This only just makes the 90s cut but and is maybe more New Jack Swing than R&B but I love this track. This was the first song we played at our wedding.

Not sure if this has already featured, yet, from hearing about Whitney Houston from the class of A Level RE students I studied with, who were all female, apart from me, I was amazed how much they loved the first Whitney album, like gobsmacked amazed. It just seemed like Pop to me, yet they knew every single word and the enthusiasm they spoke of her, I respected, even if it never really resonated.

Fast forward another 10 years or so, and whilst working in a record shop, I would play her My Love Is Your Love every morning with coffee whilst waking up and damn, that is one fine album. Can’t quantify, but I imagine it must be her best?

Mariah, if you’re reading this, I still love you…

Because I was into guitars and the 90s were fucking weird, it’s only now I can admit this might be the best tune of the era.
