No worries, you may need landlords permission, but can’t seem it being any skin off their nose. Other than that it’s just a case of contacting the water company and getting an appointment sorted.

Only other possible issue I can think of is if you’re in a house conversion and don’t have an independent supply you may have a supply that doesn’t allow a meter to be fitted. (Very vague memories of reading about it when I had it done)

£48 a month. Crikey. Should probably look at getting a meter put in.

Well worth it.

Well that’s just rude.

We pay £27 a month which seems extortionate considering the gas/leccy is only £34.
Keep meaning to query it - Severn Trent do have form for fucking our bills up. They sent us a bill for about £800 for the first year or so after we moved in because they’d only installed one meter for 3 flats and the sausage fingered twat who came to read it put the wrong numbers in anyway.

Ha. On that note I think we briefly had a bill for over a thousand pounds for six months last year. I ignored it and it went away.

Yeah I don’t see that they’ll be bothered. We live in a fairly ‘normal’ house so should work. Thanks for your help.

Water and sewerage is about £60 a month I think, maybe a bit more

Blimey. I’d query that if I were you.

On a meter. 3 toilets, 2 showers & bath. Constantly using washing machine and dishwasher. Seems about right. Fuck knows

Just had a go on the water meter calculator on the water company website. Came out as around £100 a month! Maybe I won’t bother…

£15 a month, but they base that on the previous year’s usage and i lived alone then. Expecting it to pretty much double next year based on two people.

In my experience, £15 per person a month is probably about right for average use.

The usual rule of thumb is that a meter will be cheaper if you have fewer people living in your house than there are bedrooms.

I think I grossly overestimated how often I water the garden, tbh.

Ours is £40 a month which exceptionally good since we run a bath 365 days a year and my wife uses water for sinus rinses, around 1.5L every day.

Also, really good thread @anon5266188.
