what’s this about cd project red being all transphobic?

They did a “did you just assume their gender” tweet.

there’s a bit where they ask the devs, “what is there to do in this huge world apart from web swinging?” and the answer is…vague. something about a dynamic crime system and upgrade tokens.

hmmm. i want to believe they’ve avoided open world syndrome, will wait for the reviews tho.

seems like almost every open world game is worse than a more linear experience would be.

most open world games seem to map a linear experience onto the open world and call it a job done.

And then add 500 arbitrary Riddler trophies.

also idk if i’m being weird but it bugs the hell out of me that of the 3 NPCs spidey is facing in that still, 2 of them are the same character model, the third is possibly the same with a ponytail and grey hoodie, and all 3 of them are wearing the same shoes.

The issue for me is that challenge/reward isn’t balanced properly to be fun and engaging throughout, there’s often little rampup in difficulty or loads of tedious side content that only detracts from the experience.

Sometimes it can work but it’s really got to be a world/gameplay where just spending time is rewarding itself, can’t think of much beyond Zelda and MGSV really.

It’s why I have no real hype for Red Dead 2.

also we happy few has been utterly buried. apparently a criminally broken and buggy af release, copy-paste world and NPC design, unforgivably shite gameplay. a real shame as it is such a genuinely great concept.

when arkham knight came out i wanted to love it, but yeah that definitely fits the bill. crowbarring the battank in there was just bizarre, too.

New subscripton model. Console, Xbox Live and Game Pass for 20pounds per month for 2 years. Aggressive plays being made from Microsoft

Strong! Seems to be US only though, but I’d be tempted by something like this.

What’s the difference between XBox Live and Game Pass? I thought it was all the same thing.

My understanding is Live gets you online play and the monthly Games With Gold drops, whereas the pass gives you access to a growing library of titles.
Seems like a load of content for 20 dollars really.

Ah, game pass is like netflix for games?

I believe so, you’d need to download them to play them (rather than stream), but yes, the closest to that model anyone is offering at the moment.
I believe all first party games will be added at launch too, which is pretty impressive.

Edit - a lot of believing and not much actual knowing though…

Makes sense. Hadn’t realised Microsoft had done that as well as gone having the XBox Live free games.

Cheers.
