A Ghost Is Kicking Television - The Wilco Thread

Completely forgot this existed (my copy will be in a box at my mum’s) but I remember this being real nice.

I think that solo tour was the first time he’d played Uncle Tupelo songs in years as well.

I listened to it when it came out after hearing it playing in HMV, but just listening again to the last Nels Cline Singers album. Great stuff.

Yeh I got a vinyl copy of that for a tenner in a sale recently - terrific stuff!

Cousin vinyl arrived today! Pretty rare you get.a physical pre-order show up before release date. Sure it use to happen more often. Now it seems it’s more common to be waiting days/weeks after release for something to show up.

On the one hand, excited by these reviews talking about the experimental side of Wilco appearing again but on the other, managing my expectations because it’s clearly not another YHF or AGIB.

Just a few tracks in, but loving how it sounds. Isn’t mad experimental at all, but has the unexpected sonic edge you got to things on The Whole Love or Star Wars at least

I like how it’s ‘organically experimental’ - doesn’t sound forced or over-worked, but neither does it sound like standard Wilco tunes with some odd noises here and there. Good middle ground.

Completely agree with the previous two comments. As much as I enjoyed Cruel Country, think I’ll return to this one a lot more. Feels like there’ll be something new for me to pick up on the production side with each listen.
