Yeah I used to really enjoy parkrun as it was the same time every week and you could see your results written down. I never managed to get under 30 min for 5km but I think i could do that now.

My major running problem is my tits. I swear to god I have to wear such a tight sports bra to keep my boobs in place but this really restricts my breathing.

Fucking stupid twat last night.

Went for my normal 10k run (to hillsbrough park, 2 loops, then back) but my contact lens was broken and my new set arrive today, and it was raining so I had to go out with (very) impaired vision, and forgot that Wednesday were at home last night. Kept almost running into people :frowning:

Might try to run a half marathon tomorrow morning, bit worried it might be a bit too soon though

Stick to a route that keeps you fairly close to home so you can always sack it off if it turns out it is. What’s the furthest you’ve run so far?

I did a half in April 2015. But in this stretch of run training I’ve done a 17km a month or so ago, but then got knocked out for a couple of weeks with a stinker of a cold, have done a couple of 10ks this week. Should be ok getting round, but I want to run it quicker than my timed one (1:47) which might mean I blow up at some point

Perhaps aim for 15K or so and see how you are at that point before hitting the final six? When is the half?

Doing a full (!!) in manchester in April. Will probably sign up for a proper half beforehand but nothing booked in yet

Still contemplating a full but keep sacking the idea off, I need to get a half booked in soon to aim for something.

Isn’t it recommended that you go up through the distances at around a rate of plus 10% each time? Plenty of time to get back up to speed.

See how you feel tomorrow and good luck.

aye, generally, but I’m pushing it a bit because:
a) I can only really run max. 3 times a week atm
b) christmas is coming up and I’m inevitably going to put on weight
c) I’ve done a half before so feel like my body should be ok with the distance
d) I’m running for a time as well as trying to get round

Probably silly but ah well

10% is ideal, Can push it to around 20% if you’re running well or mileage is particularly low

thought I’d move the chat over from the stat thread

I’m guessing you mean this?

I’d be up for it

That’s the one. Did it the year before last, decent course, good crowds. A bit expensive but it’s something to aim for immediately after Xmas. Also they had snow machines at various stages which were a bit irritating but not the end of the world.

The ‘Penguin Party’ sounds interesting…

Can’t remember any penguins from the other year, I like penguins but I’m not that keen on parties.

DiS running krew assemble (feb 5th?)

Looks like they do a 5 for 4 offer on group entries.

Misjudged distance and got lost in my hometown. Accidentally ran 18km. Feel like I’m abut to die

Haven’t been out for about a week ( Ill plus Christmas) hoping to get out this evening but still entertaining g people which makes it a bit tricky! Proper geeked out yesterday and write myself a little run schedule for Jan and Feb!!! :grinning:
Happy runmas!!!

Only had Christmas day off in the last five, nice hill run and some decent interval work along with a couple of easy days. Feeling pretty happy and ready for a big year next year, got plans for a couple of marathons and hopefully an ultra.

Ran the Buntingford 10 yesterday. It was wonderful - properly lovely sunny, crisp run through the countryside, well organised and marshalled.

The course has a fair climb in the first half, but then it’s pretty much downhill all the way to the finish and you can almost peg it the whole way.

If you’re around north London or north of London and want a race to do next year, I can definitely recommend it.
