Just bought some sweet bluetooth sports earphones. This is going to increase the likelihood of me going running by about 21.3%

What did you get?

Denon something or other

Mmm…Denon

Friend of mine ran all 3 years of this, and hasn’t run any other marathons :frowning:

Royal Parks Half ballot opens at 11 folks

Website says it’s open already.

I entered the Hackney Half last night.

Going to treat it as a social trot, as it’s only a week after the marathon, so if anyone else wants to run it super slow, I can help pace you if you want.

So it is, cheers. Just whacked myself in, fingers crossed. Having a half marathon during crunch will ensure I keep up the running and don’t eat like (as much of) an idiot throughout.

If you don’t get a place, then I can recommend Ealing, which is two weeks earlier:

Cheers pal, got a pal who ran that (he pissed himself during it), I’ll keep it in mind.

Wow

Hasn’t run any marathons at all, tbf.
(Sorry. If it’s any consolation, he probably did run the full distance - they measure the shortest possible route and most people don’t run that. Still shit though; one of those was my first marathon so I know how he feels).

Bashed my knee at football and it’s completely seized up overnight and I can barely walk fuckfuckfuckfuck

Ice that fucker as much as possible. Ibuprofen. Few days rest. With any luck it’ll be good to go again. A knock is way better than a twist.

Should I replace runs with low intensity stuff (swim/cycle) for a couple of days or am I better off resting it completely

Personally I’d go for total rest for at least today and tomorrow. Got to give the swelling a chance to go down, then you can assess the situation. I know it’s hard to miss runs when you’re following a programme, but in reality you probably get some benefit from a short rest and will feel better when you run again. Good luck.

This. Also I’m no expert on cycling, but even though it’s low impact I definitely wouldn’t cycle on a dodgy knee. Pseudo-scientific-logic suggests to me that could be a recipe for disaster.

So half marathon/marathon training seems to be going OK but I am SO FUCKING HUNGRY ALL THE TIME and am putting on a bunch of weight (solely on the belly).

Is this a thing? I didn’t get into running to be ripped, but I’d rather not get fat as fuck even though I’m running all the time.

from when I started training I gained 2 or 3 kilos then very quickly lost about 5kg. No idea what the biology behind it is but it seems to be a relatively common thing from people I’ve spoken to
