Mixed bag, 10 miler just over a week ago followed with a sloppy 10km that included my watch dying, pedestrians being pedestrians and the mother in law. Trying to stick to 10km plus now with a Half Marathon to do at some point but generally need a couple of days rest between runs.

Ran 12 km on Saturday but started with the longest uphill drag which didn’t help. The new riverfront parkrun was cancelled due to ice, might give that a go this week.

Also signing up for a team triathlon running the 10km leg.

Was the parkrun cancelled but you still ran the course?

yeah, there were a few icy patches and it’s normally a 600+person run so they had to cancel it really. But then me and the other people who ran it anyway had enough space to avoid any icy patches so it wasn’t really dangerous

missed my run yestrday due to … um,… stuff

annoying

Last week was a bit of a write-off due to work and me being a bit of a wimp with the weather.

Went for a long-ish run yesterday, which just reinforced that I can’t do that kind of thing the day after playing hockey…

Yeah, I ducked out for weather reasons this weekend, planning on running home twice this week though

jusy had a proper shit run - too bad cold - muscles were all stiff!

Yeah I get this pretty badly (sometimes the circulation in my arms/hands seems to basically switch off) and I think as marckee mentioned it’s tightness in my shoulders/possibly even (a) trapped nerve(s). It also makes the veins in my hands massive and terrifying. I don’t think it’s just down to poor posture, I reckon it’s also mammoth baseline stress levels and anxiety, but it’s definitely worth having a think about your posture and if you’re putting too much impact into your stride.

i get this every now and then too, i think it can be linked to nerve issues as i have recurring issues when doing upper body exercises where it feels like somebody’s putting hot needles into my shoulder. for me i believe it’s to do with running with a rucksack on.

Hackney Half registration is open:

£48 for a bloody half marathon. is that pricey or am i just being tight?
just checked and it was £39 last year…

I can’t remember how much it was last year but I did wince a bit

Sounds pricey to me, but potentially largely from the cost of road closures rather than profiteering. Race prices do seem to have got out of control in the last ten years.

The Watford Half (I only quote because it’s my club race) is £25 or £27 this year and that’s similarly on fully closed roads, but they’re also pretty much entirely country/suburban estate roads rather than anything particularly busy).

can anyone recommend a good footer rollery thing - got some heel pain which it might help sort out

or should i just tenniss ball it?

I think it was £48 last year for the non-early-bird entries. Maybe not.

It is pricey, yes, but it’s in London, on closed roads (some of them major), and the goodie bag is better than any other race I’ve run.

Given that I can stay at home and catch the bus to and from the start line, it still works out cheaper than most other ones.

I think Cardiff and Bath were pushing £40 last year and you know…London.

Hereford is about £20 if you don’t want a t-shirt at the end of it, otherwise about £37.

Not the best time of year to be having to get you hand in your pocket.

yeah i think it’s just me feeling that mid/late January squeeze rather than an actual objection to the amount.

It’s definitely pricey though.

Could it be to do with my sports bra?
I’m noticing more than my boobs are becoming a chore when it comes to running. It could be where my straps are quite tight?

Gels: I’m guessing they all taste like shit unless you fork out silly $$$ for them so I might as well just keep stomaching the ones I currently get
