It’s not looking good mate:

While Jelly Belly Beans may provide some quick energy, ingredients found in Jelly Belly Beans can actually deplete energy levels in your body.

Nothing like a nice, light, steak before a 5k.

I wasn’t this morning, no. I did double gym classes that are a little later otherwise I normally go.

Ah, I had a quick look but I was on mobile - must have missed it.

I reckon you’d be on the right track with the plan you posted. Just, as I say, practice on the right terrain, especially on the long runs. It is a time-suck though, so I hear you on leaving it for another year.

The key differences with marathons, IMO, are that you have to think about pacing much more (it’s easy to pace yourself in a marathon, especially a flat one); food is much more important (so you have to practice eating, find out what you can handle) and pain is more of an issue (especially later on).

Another 7.5 miles clocked up this morning. Half marathon training in full flow now. Started slow with the girls and then really pushed on for the second half of it. Actually felt pretty good despite a few beers and a late night.

First big run of the year this morning. 12.8 miles off road through the beautiful Pentland hills near Edinburgh. Some pretty big long climbs.
Was stunning, although the temp was -5 when I started at 9am.

Great work by the two posters above me.

I had a nice friendly hill run with a local running group, good bunch of lads and lasses, no-one trying to push themselves. Felt quite satisfied, then went on to the Facebook page and saw that someone I run with just finished a 75km wilderness run, taking around 20 hours. With river crossings and boulder scrambling and all that. I now feel intimidated (on the other hand, I feel less bad about struggling to keep up with her last time).

just did my 4th run of the year. into week 2 of C25K so they’re obviously pretty easygoing right now but it’s nice to just enjoy being out and ease myself back into it instead of overdoing it and making myself miserable. :+1:

nnggghhh, did my first run for ages yesterday - a steady 13km that would have been straightforward just a couple of months ago. i’m proper feeling it today, so annoying.

Went out for a nice little wandering run on my lunch for the first time.

Strava seems to think I ran 0.6km in around half an hour though. :frowning:

GPS probably didn’t lock properly. You can trace your route here if you want to get a better idea of how far you went https://www.gmap-pedometer.com

Do you use your phone to record on Strava?

yes!

Before hitting start, give the GPS about 30 seconds to pin your location more accurately. And make sure any power saving is turned off. Should be fine once youve done that

Ran 27k last week, which is like 12% of what I ran during the whole of 2017. Got a good feeling about Running In Twenty Eighteen

cheers! First time I’ve gone out running from work here, always used to be problems with mobile signal so I know for next time at least.

Was feeling great that I managed to go out for a run this morning, given how frosty it is in Glasgow, but only got a 1.5 miles before having to turn back because my knee gave out :frowning: It’s really bothering me as I know I can run further, and would like to start training now for the Ed marathon in May.

Got some physio advice and also just started doing yoga (do any of you do this?), so hopefully that will help!

A lot of it was on a trail, so a lot of guess work, but looks like it was probably in the region of 6kmish, nice one.
