A rice cooker

Is getting a rice cooker worth it? Only willing to pay £20 for one

Double the volume of water to rice, boil for 8 minutes, put the lid on and leave to steam for 8 minutes. Done.

A cooker made from rice?! That would never work.

(Better “comedy” answer to follow.)

No. One cup rice (rinsed), two cups water, throw in a saucepan. Spent £20 on something else fun!

Those microwave pouches are good enough for me tbh.

yes.

if you eat rice even semi-regularly it’s a game changer.

Too far.

Is this worthy of an internet pile on of some sort?

My rice cooker is the microwave

How.

We get honest to god compliments on our rice from following this. Why are people such massive rice idiots.

depends on the type of rice doesn’t it

This.

I refuse to believe there’s enough significant difference in quality to overcome the sheer ease of popping a pouch in the microwave for two minutes.

Also means you don’t have to manage timing stuff.

Curry is ready now, ace, let it simmer for two mins while the rice cooks and we’re good to go.

So I’ll buy a dedicated appliance instead? Nah.

Too expensive per kg for me

Works for basmati and jasmine. If you’re dicking around with brown rice then that’s your own fault.

Fuck that too.

Saucepan is fine

I cooked rice and vegetables in the oven in one pot the other day, just a bunch of veggies, indeterminate quantity of rice, indeterminate but not excessive quantity of water, spices, salt etc. Came out really nice, unsure why everyone has such trouble with rice tbh
