I felt like you had your answer way up there already so it didn’t seem like we were going to derail much. Sorry.

I was just being facetious. I absolutely adore posts of this nature from you Theo, I hope you know that

my ex actually has this - it’s annoying as you have to really waggle the plunger thing to get the bell moving (oo er)

I mean you have to respond to Marckee in the language he understands or else he gets out of control.

Also EMO, let’s not forget I was responding to you going totally needlessly defensive over an amusing comment about doorbells

At my previous flat they had doorbells that rang your mobile phone. This sounds great because you can talk to the person but if the doorbell rang when I wasn’t at home the caller didn’t believe me because they’d never heard of such a thing. But, seriously, why would I tell the postman that I was’t in?!

there’s like no way my future house won’t have this doorbell

It can get worse than that: my mate took over such a flat but for whatever reason (letting agents being utter shits, I guess) no one knew how to update that feature. So when you rang his door bell you just got some random ex-tenant’s answerphone.

Are there doorbells where you can record your own choice of bong?

I’d like one of those.

the one I had that played Curb was one of those

A friend’s old house came with a cheap musical doorbell. You couldn’t choose the tune, it just alternated them all. Every so often it would boom out a doorbell rendition of the Canadian national anthem at twice the volume of all the other ones.

As well it should! :maple_leaf:

So we’re in the market for a doorbell for when we move into our new place.

The TV is a bit worried about security in general (and there have been some bad break-ins recently in the area) so wants to get a smart doorbell with video. Also because I work from home but am often wearing headphones/on a call/having a nap, I want one linked to my phone so that alerts me to when someone is ringing.

The main ones are Nest and Ring. Anything to suggest one is better than the other? Anything to watch out for. Ring uploads video to the cloud when motion is detected, whereas Nest is always on (which seems a bit unnecessary). Both have a subscription system for them, and you have to pay a bit for a chime box to actually hear the doorbell ring. Thoughts?
