This is where is gets a little boring and about sociology and stuff: The New Towns have their own language patterns that come from the areas of London where their initial population was largely drawn, often leapfrogging the slow spread people leaving London to live in other areas. Stevenage, for example took a lot of people from Islington. Harlow took people from Tottenham (lots of people from Harlow refer to is as âNorth Londonâ) and Basildon took people from inner east London, while Stanford and the rest of Thurrock was mainly people from a little further out - places like Dagenham.
