Trying to think of something noteworthy but I’m drawing a blank. It’s not a part of London I visit very often. I’d probably would walk past the Lebanese restaurants on Brompton Road, pick one that looks decent and stuff myself on mezze.

I’m of the opinion that it’s fine where you know everyone, as it’s relatively neutral compared to men or LADS BANTZ, so I’d comfortably use it with friends (genuinely think I have more non-male friends than male these days).

Wouldn’t use it with people I’m less familiar with, though, and it’s possibly worth exploring why people don’t say “gals” with mixed groups as much.

Was just thinking about that too. I definitely could say “hello ladies” to a group of just men (that I’m friends with) but it wouldn’t be taken as neutrally as “guys” would it? More like a jokey “waaay called you ladies even though you’re not and we’re all manly men here” thing, which wouldn’t be what I aim for at all.

But hey, long for the world when guys and ladies/whatever alternative can just be used interchangeably for different groups of people as you see fit. Be the change you want to see!
