This is good and works well
This one less so
Cheers
Talk about it! Talk about it right now!
And morning soup can be avoided if you take a route straight through what is known as
The dark side!
Of the moon!
I get up when I want. Except on Wednesdays when I get rudely awoken by all them fackin’ noises at the start of Time
I thought that Money sounded great and wondered where it would go. Then it didn’t - just sort of stayed where it was for 7 minutes. Disappointing - if it leaned just another 10% I to the Waits-ness it was hinting at it might have been a classic.
Time was better, although the spoken word bit in money is far better. Unfortunately I will always struggle not to expect the massive takeoff into one of Gilmour’s finest moments at the midpoint. The washy Hammond stuff is nice, but it feels like he changed it just to thumb his nose at his former colleagues - it needed something bigger there.
Unlike a lot of people I am a massive fan of his craggy, aging voice. If he wasn’t such an absolute prick I’d like to hear a lot more of it.
Yeah the problem with Time is that those notes in the Gilmour solo are perfect and there’s no escaping their absence
Not sure about this, could cost him time and money
He’s entitled to do what he likes with the songs - and I don’t hate the production/sound, in a late Leonard Cohen-y kind of way - but I don’t feel like there’s anything that interesting here that justifies these versions. Given the opportunity to reinterpret a song like Time, with the benefit of 50 years of experience and hindsight, I’d have hoped for something much more.
Part convinced this is “how can I get people to listen to my spoken word pieces, the album”. At least this way he can guarantee a curiosity listen to each piece once.
This is out now.
It’s worth a listen* actually, sounds like a bitter, eccentric old man reliving past glories, which probably isn’t what Roger Waters was going for, but makes it a lot more interesting than most later-era reworkings. “Any Colour You Like” sounds like Beck’s “Paper Tiger”, which I’m all for.
*exactly one listen
Roger Waters has been someone very important to me. But when Heard about this I thought it was a shit idea, and when the new version of Money was released, I was it was an even more sure it was a shit idea and a s hit final product.
So I was slightly taken aback in a nice way that when I started listened to it I was finding I was enjoying it. On now having heard Redux head to toe, I think the first half is great. I loved it. Second half, less so. Although it did do a very good job of promoting the original, as the further it went on the more I remembered the various colours, shapes and sounds it had and which this new one was missing.
I really like this
Cheers
Why does he say “let’s re-record Dark Side Of The Moon” at one point and start laughing
He’s been mad for fucking years, absolutely years, been over the edge for yonks
