Hadn’t heard of these awards before, and given this 0 reply post about their 2016 winners is all I found on searching it seems I might not be the only one, but based on their 2020 lot (link below has full list of nominations and winners, including Sarathy Korwar, Moses Boyd, Yaeji, Little Simz, and a special award recognising Tony Allen) I think this is much more aligned with my tastes than the Mercury prize. Will be keeping an eye on this in the future. I certainly hadn’t caught on to Little Simz or Christine and the Queens in 2016 but enjoyed the subsequent albums of each.

That’s a shame they’re not being discussed. I’ve been a judge since they started. This year was the first one I didn’t judge. They’re really great awards.
