What do people think will make it to the top of most lists when they start to come out?

I reckon:
TPAB & Damn
MBDTF
Blackstar
Let England Shake
Carrie & Lowell
Channel Orange

Others?

Anything that maybe wasn’t ultra acclaimed the year it was released but is now more acclaimed?

I have a lot of thoughts about this but, its too soon at the moment.

I have a vague idea of a top ten but, bits change every few weeks.

I still haven’t listened to the Skeleton Tree. Everyone seems to think its great.

Obviously I need to to give it a shot!

Funny decade for me as I spent half of it married and am spending second half divorced/separated so there’s a lot of before and after in my mind. Also some stuff I loved back then (for example war on drugs) I’d never listen to again now. So basically so far it’s albums by:

Swans
Protomartyr
Actress
Then all that amazing body of work from Andy Stott, demdike stare, actress, Raime
Always Godflesh. ALWAYS them
Blanck Mass
Daughters
Idles
Girl Band

Crazy how underappreciated this album is

Even though I’ve hated everything he’s done since with such a passion Benji probably deserves to be in this conversation.

Also the Mount Eerie album A Crow Looked at Me and I Never Learn by Lykke Li.

Basically all the cheerful, upbeat ones.

You’re probably right. Definitely in my top 10 at least.

All these lists need more Blonde.

Will take some time to formulate a whole list, but feel like Home, Like Noplace Is There (The Hotelier) has been omitted (presumably in error) so far

In rough order,

1 Kanye MBDTF
2 Frank Ocean – Channel Orange
3 Everything Everything – Get To Heaven
4 Arcade Fire – Suburbs
5 WOD – Lost in a Dream
6 SKM – Benji
7 Four Tet – There Is Love In You
8 Caribou – Swim
9 Bon Iver – s/t
10 Julia Holter – Have You In My Wilderness
11 St Vincent – s/t
12 Damien Jurado - Visions of us on the land
13 Slowdive – s/t
14 Lykke Li – So sad, so sexy
15 LCD Soundsystem – This Is Happening
16 Courtney Barnett – Sometimes I Just Sit & Think…
17 Kurt Vile – B’lieve I’m Goin Down
18 Beyoncé - Lemonade
19 Destroyer – Kaputt
20 Tame Impala – Lonerism

4:44, Syro and 1989 all bubbling under, but can’t think what I’d dislodge.

I know it’s a tough subject and many will disagree but Swans should be included. Just my take.

Jesus! Caribou - Swim was this decade. I’m going to have to get a spreadsheet out.

Think I did a list for the mid point of the decade and have been shuffling albums around in a ‘Top 100’ spreadsheet since then. Think my top 10 is pretty much locked in but will see what the rest of the year brings.
