Thought you might be a fan of this too :slightly_smiling_face:

The whole record is just so evocative, isn’t it? Totally agree that David is a big standout! Always well up by the time You Stop Making Sense comes on…

Thought I’d do 10 (in no particular order):

Bjork - Vulnicura (2015)
PJ Harvey - Let England Shake (2011)
Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell (2015)
David Bowie - Blackstar (2016)
Colleen - A Flame My Love, A Frequency (2017)
Jasmine Guffond - Traced (2017)
Julia Holter - Loud City Song (2013)
Jenny Hval & Susanna - Meshes of Voice (2014)
Mica Levi - Under the Skin OST (2014)
Sarah Davachi - Let Night Come On Bells End The Day (2018)

Tbh not sure if that really is my favourite albums of the last decade but it seems a decent representation as a first cut.

Lucky Shiner - good shout. Thought that was 2009, just made it through. Gold Panda never really took off the way I expected it to. Outperformed by Bonobo in the long term, I guess

No analysis of this decade will be complete without acknowledging Lil B who is the reason for lots of music today.

I think iLoveMakonnen has also had a rough ride

Because he’s released 50% of the decade’s songs?

I feel really sorry for the suede album on that list. Feel sure it’s going to get picked on by all its tougher /harder list mates

I have seen the odd eraser/elastic band lobbed in their direction… TTS and Low are the main culprits… funny you’d think it would be one of the rougher lads but there you go

This is why I like having mp3s tagged and organised and spreadsheets of records. I am finding some artists have several releases I can’t pick between but I almost want to honour somehow, some who also have releases in the 00s. Currently on a binge of

Hotelier
Converge
Every Time I Die
Basement
Future of the Left

to make an informed decision. Best bit about making lists this.

Loud city song over HYIMW???

Both great records, I guess it’s down to a time and place thing. I could have listed another 40!
