Albums of the Year 2023 lists - compiled (no chat)

Lists usually begin to roll out this week. Thought it would be good to have a compilation thread with just the lists and link to any threads discussing the lists

If a list doesn’t warrant its own thread, chat here

6 Music have launched an artists of the year list

“Blur”. Do they mean Blue?

Uncut have gone with Lankum. Good for them.

Just realised they seem to have beaten the traditional first announcement by Rough Trade!

The Rolling Stones at 18! Paul Simon at 2! I didn’t even know he had an album out!

Good number 1 though and decent showings for Lisa O’Neill and Cian Nugent as well

At the risk of chatting in this thread they’ve set the “I had no idea they put an album out this year” bar very high (John Cale, The Pretenders, Dexys, The Coral…)

Think Rough Trade will be announced today at 3pm. Their AOTY is Nation of Language.

Sufjan, Caroline Polachek, Lankum and Young Fathers round out the top 5.

Here’s their list - warning, opens with their number 1 rather than a countdown

Chat away

There’s a Dave Rowntree album and a Coxon side project in that RT Top 100 list but no sign of Blur‘s first album in almost a decade  One that was pretty well received too. Thought it would’ve been a shoo-in.

I don’t mean to be rude but I don’t think two threads are needed, and especially not a separate thread for each list, they’re just going to make the board unnavigateable. Dunno if thats a word but it is now. Surely just the one thread where people can chat and maybe updating the OP with a new list for easy finds would work better

Perfectly cromulent imo

unnavigable maybe?

Absolutely delighted in the worth my English degree has had

The kind of thing a muteable tag was designed for imo.

Just didn’t want people to miss some of the big lists if they wanted to discuss records on them. Thought it would be worth trying.

Personally I find the 600+ reply threads on lots of different topics really hard to follow unless I spend 2-3 hours a day on the forums.

I can feel the words

Ceasing to exist even as I’m running my eyes over them.
