That Kara-Lis Coverdale record is all kinds of wonderful. It’s not an album though.

Nice enough how they have these 10 great albums on a list hidden away on their website but have the below mess on primetime BCC2

THE YEAR IN MUSIC 2017

In a special programme on BBC Two, Claudia Winkleman and Clara Amfo look back at the year’s music highlights - featuring 2017’s best albums, biggest artists, and most unforgettable performances. The show includes interviews with Foo Fighters, Liam Gallagher, Stormzy, Nile Rodgers, Rag‘n’Bone Man, Liam Gallagher, Dua Lipa, Nick Grimshaw, Mistajam, and Jo Whiley; and an exclusive performance by Rag‘n’Bone Man.

The year in music programme sorta seems like the type of programme they should feature their AOTY on… Just an idea

Two interviews with Liam G? Fookin’ mega that.

I started watching that programme - made it all the way to the ‘first award’ which was best live act or performance or some such - Foo Fighters. Gave it up after that. Seems like it was more of a showcase for artists who’ve been on BBC programmes or live transmissions a lot rather than actually good music.

I like how so many of the commenters standard insult is to call other commenters Guardanista’s - so people who read The Guardian. Like they are.

Enjoyed the fact that they misspelled the name of their number one album

That’s the BBC music award show which is basically their staff Christmas party, they probably have a vote amonst themselves to decide who they want to play at it.

thought this was the title for ages

Me too. I didn’t like it so much that it was number one on my end of year list though. Reckon I might have paid more attention if it was.

I love Widowspeak: Expect the Best, especially “The Dream.” I’m surprised it didn’t get more recognition.

Echoes and Dust

I see the Brockhampton/Needle Drop fanboys rendered this thing even more pointless

Brockhampton routinely release pretty good records though. Overzealous fanbase or not I’ve got to commend their level of output for how prolific they’ve been.

Ah, to clarify I’m a fan of Brockhampton. i think I was the first person to write about them on here and think they’re getting better with each record. It’s just clearly a targeted campaign by a few boards to get them to the top of this readers list (which itself seemed a nice idea when they first tried it but has never worked that well or added anything new)
