Burial’s best work still sounds ahead of it’s time 12 years later

All of Fugazi’s albums

I was thinking this just yesterday about Handcream for a Generation by Cornershop, it doesn’t sound like it’s from 17 years ago, whatever that means

Think some of the lyrics are definitely of their time but yeah, everything else still stands up.

Think this is very true - the big exception for me is the Pixies. Their music seems to exist totally outside of both the indie and more mainstream sounds of their era.

I think Entroducing sounds very ‘of its time’ if that makes any sense.

Great answer. Only recently got into Wire but those albums sound like they could have been made now.

Absolutely. The production on ‘Ten’ has dated it, however, ‘Vs’ still sounds great.

This is a very nerdy post BUT: ‘Rumours’ sounds pretty incredible for a 42-year-old album. Everything else is so immaculately tracked and mixed that a decently-maintained copy of the original 1977 release actually sounds better than the initial CD release, which was butchered by the digital remastering.

I’ve got the 45RPM version from RSD11 and it sounds incredible, like there’s an acoustic guitar in the room with you.

If you mean it sounds like 1996 I know what you mean.

Endtroducing and Odelay both sound well '96.

I can’t put my finger on what it is about Endtroducing (maybe just the general genre) but as much as I love Odelay, the Dust Brothers production really dates it.

Tusk also sounds pretty great though I’d say some of the songwriting is a bit dated.

Yeah, Pixies seem immune to it.
