Okay, so regarding your first point; I think it is important to re evaluate all our own perspectives. For me, it’s an important process to look at something with hindsight to perhaps see what could be done in future to prevent re occurrence. I don’t think anyone is trying to question or analyse what has been said by Alice…but rather make sense of their own experiences (this is particularly understandable for those who have had experience with abuse).

Secondly…you did say his ex-girlfriend should’ve come forward. Even if she hadn’t come out recently to say how it had affected her…it’s just not her responsibility to report this. It’s his responsibility to stop doing it.

As someone mentioning lyrics i was merely acknowledging how creepy that stuff is in retrospect. Kind of ironic that you’re interpreting comments a certain way and simultaneously getting upset at how your (much more dodgy) comment is being taken.

because it was fucking weird at the time and now seems very in line with what has come to light.

I totally agree with this absolutely, if there is any way discussion can prevent any way of re-occurence, that is incredibly important to any situation like this.

Yes so, I would see things like discussion of lyrics, looking back on the statement from Kath etc. as a way of us doing this is some sort of way. Equally, it may just be a part of processing the events. So the CiD comment was unnecessary.

So as a form of prevention are you suggesting people should perhaps look at lyrics from other artists in a similar way and see if there are any causes for concern? This is just a question and not intended to be provoking.

I think there is a legitimate argument to say that if lyrics do make you uncomfortable/seem a bit suspect…then you should absolutely question whether you are okay with giving such an artist your support. Obviously I wouldn’t advocate making accusations based on lyrics…but no one here is doing that.

without re-reading the thread i’m not sure anyone’s suggesting we should make an assumption from lyrics in future. just that some of their old lyrics now jump out at us as alluding to things we’d never realised were based in reality.

EDIT: oh it was suggested in the post you were replying to, but before that i mean.

I think perhaps that idea, as you’ve touched upon, was taken from me saying we should look at things with hindsight to prevent re-occurrence. I guess that could be taken directly, but I meant it more as a means of us all being more aware of this kind of discourse around us…rather than saying we can find some more sexual criminals based on dodgy lyrics.

Just went the rabbit hole with this and saw a link to a Tumblr called “aliceglassexposed”.

I didn’t click on it and I’m not going to link it but the fact that it exists made me pretty damn angry.

Yeah there are pro alice glass and anti alice glass blogs. Its so strange and messed up but a lot of the claims alice made later were talked about in these blogs before they were made public.

Its al very confusing and classic examples of the internet constantly blurring the lines and festering doubt. What is clear though is there is something fucked up going on.

Oh and Ethen is an utter scumbag and that is is not even dependent on the allegations being true!

This is what bothers me in particular. You can imagine Alice feeling like the power has been completely taken away from her, as so many people have a theory on the situation, usually linked to their opinion on them as musicians.

There’s also a huge element of using her mental health struggles to question her perspective, completely ignoring the fact that those with MH issues are at greater risk of abuse. Plus all the thing about her lying because she is being further manipulated by her “boyfriend”…which is something which should make you sympathise with her more, if anything.

Grim and shows a real cycle of abuse. Even if perhaps nothing was illegal he is at the very least a massive scumbag

Tl;dr: many more people have come forward and there is a pattern to the abuse. Claudio seems to use his fame/respect to target people who have just reached legal age. In all these relationships he has shown controlling behaviour
