The swmming leg is really bad as a spectator sport, but the cycling and running are good.

Totally depends on what I’m watching, although as I predominantly watch cycling, Eurosport.

Indeed. I mean overall, taking into account the sports you watch most regularly.

Eurosport - obviously cycling, but much, much less biased athletics coverage.

Their alpine skiing coverage is decent too. Even though I still haven’t got used to Jonathan Edwards being the winter sports anchor…

I still miss it being on BBC, the heady days of test matches often followed the next day by a 60 over Natwest Trophy match. Pretty sure the test players would be playing those games too. Of course Sunday break days used to be a bit of a shitter back then.

I love a conclusive poll.

To confirm, I mostly watch football, and BT are the best at doing football. Good presenters, good pundits, better than terrible commentary.

Who would win an olympic distance triathlon (1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run)

  • Mo Farah
  • Chris Froome
  • Michael Phelps (or whoever the best swimmer is atm)

Ok so I reckon

Froome = 1hour swimming, 50 mins bike, 35 mins run

Mo = 1 hour swimming, 75 mins bike, 25 mins run

Phelps 30 mins swim (?), 75 mins bike, 45 mins run

impressive of mo farah to set a world record for the 10k at the end of a triathlon

He is on the most drugs out of the three

The swimming is key. I don’t think Farah can swim, and I read somewhere that Froome barely can either.

Phelps would swim a mile in under 20 minutes, and trains on a bike and at running already.

He’d destroy them, I think, over that kind of distance - 20k bike and 10k run aren’t quite far enough for the difference in ability to tell, I don’t think.

bike’s 40km for olympic distance triathlon, no?
reckon it would be a toss up between Froome and Phelps depending on how much ascent there is on the bike leg. reckon they’re both fit enough to be under 10 mins slower than mo on the run

Sorry, this thread’s gotten far too nerdy for me.

Oh yeah, 40km.
