Narrowing this down to five was hard, but Pearl Jam is an easy number one. They have one of the best and deepest discographies out of any band. It’s ridiculous how underrated they are. The idea of limiting myself to one song off of each album is too stressful, so here’s Immortality.

It’s hard to put such a new, small discography against so many old, deep ones, but if I could pick any band to wake up to a surprise album by tomorrow, it would be Palm Haze. Possibly the most exciting shoegaze I’ve ever heard.

Protomartyr is one of the few best bands of last decade, and Relatives in Descent is a top ten album of that period.

Not much left to say about the Pixies.

I’m fairly new to Pavement, only having heard an album by them for the first time six years ago. They’re going to get the last spot because Slanted and Enchanted and Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain were instant classics, and it should probably count for something that they managed to make me love a song that is rude to my musical hero.

The two toughest omissions are probably Parquet Courts and Pedro the Lion. It feels very wrong not being able to include both.

Yeah. Essentially one album and a million remixes in their classic line-up. But what an album.
