Surprisingly one of the better letters! If The XX beat XTC, I’m going to lose my shit.

Can’t believe none of you pricks have chosen Xinlisupreme:

Blissed up mix of shoegaze and white noise with added to electro goodness

One of my first ever gigs was Xentrix at the Workington Carnegie Hall, a very unlikely venue for a venue unlikely band. And they didn’t play the ‘hit’:

seeing so many Xs in this thread all close together looks slightly funny, in an odd way.

When that ‘name a band that you’ve seen for every letter of the alphabet’ thing was going around on Facebook recently, I was certain that I had seen Xentrix in a rock club in Morecambe Bay. I maintain that they did (reluctantly) play the hit that night, but the internet can’t prove that they (or I) were even there.

The Workington Carnegie Hall sounds incredibly grand. One for the back of the tour shirt (probably with the Workington rudely in a much smaller font).

I’ve only got one song by XX Teens from a Rough Trade comp but it is a good one! Wire influenced I’d say.

The more I think about that gig the more bizarre it seems to have a thrash metal gig at the Carnegie (which is what it sounds - an Edwardian all seated theatre). I don’t recall any similar metal gigs there after the xentrix one so guessing it didn’t really work out for the promoter (or the venue - I seem to remember the seats taking a battering). In the cultural desert of west Cumbria a visit from Xentrix was a fairly big thing. And this would have happened around the similar time in Workington; what a line up:

That looks completely brilliant. Wolfsbane would have totally bossed it!
