Lol forgot he remade Oldboy
Only seen Do The Right Thing and BlacKKKlansman, need to see some more as I loved both of those quite a lot
I need to see Malcolm X
Very up and down, but the highs are as good as any film that has been released in the past 30 years.
and 4 little girls. is good at documentaries.
Watched Blackkklansman few weeks ago, thought it was brilliant. That’s the only one of his I’ve seen though, looks like I should check out Do The Right Thing.
I think you’d love Inside Man as well - try and avoid spoilers for that one though.
One that I actively need to address my blank spots with but I like what I’ve seen.
Yeah same. Think I’ve only seen Inside Man, BlacKkKlansman & Da 5 Bloods. Liked them all and aware they’re not even close to top tier Spike
Do the Right Thing is the best film I’ve seen in the last 5 years, untouchable masterpiece that treats every character with total empathy in a way I’ve barely ever seen before
Yeah, I’ve just seen those two, She’s Gotta Have It, and Da 5 Bloods
Liked em all (though D5B could do w a much tighter edit tbqh)
And as has been said DtRT is incredible and a masterpiece
Worked my way through a few of his others in lockdown (and totally loved Da 5 Bloods fuck you), really excited to get to Malcolm X finally and Crooklyn looks like it should be real good
Also you missed Clockers off the list, would have been my third pick
same. might try and watch this soon.
(just clocked it’s three and a half hours long!)
4 Little Girls is fantastic, voted for School Daze as one of mine as although its all over the place I really dig it and the last scene is brilliant.
he got some? @AQOS ?
Perfect for Film Club. Hope it comes to Netflix soon!
This is an impeccable description of 25th hour
I saw 25th Hour in the first week I moved to Ireland. I’d done it more or less on a whim, left pretty much everything behind me, didn’t know anyone or anything there and I was trying to get to grips with the upheaval. Fair to say it resonated with me, I made a huge emotional connection with it. Brian Cox’ final monologue blew me away. I love the film, but can’t be objective about it at all.
Do The Right Thing is the best film ever. The rest are mixed/5
