There’s so many Hari Krishnas in Tallinn!

Have you never encountered burger sauce before? It’s the first choice on chips where I grew up.

Also had an old Russian lady sidle up to me and say “psst do you want any gloves or hats?” and then open her coat to sell me some illicit knitting on the street. I got a nice pair of gloves.

I saw Solaris when they did that retrospective last summer, meant to see more but life got in the way. I enjoyed Solaris but have not felt compelled to watch any of his other films since.

tbh it is an exhausting film, but possibly less so than andrei rublev. the others are at least a bit less of a slog.

Aside from the obvious audiovisual benefits the cinema is the best place to watch films like that because there are no distractions, and when you’re 2 hours deep into any film with no end in sight suddenly faffing about on your phone becomes very appealing. Also with the best will in the world I’m not going to come home after a day at work and stick Winter Sleep on to unwind.

You could probably do a biography of Stalin that just had “Stalin- what a bastard” on the pages.
