Speaking of crazy Andrew WK conspiracy theories, did we do this essay, which is definitely not written by Andrew WK, about who Andrew WK might be, might have been or something?

I didn’t realise he was making music which sounds like this nowadays
It just got a surprise release last Friday. Before that he basically retired, wiped all his socials and disappeared into marital bliss, from what I can tell.

Don’t do Facebook any more but he was one of the first actual celebrities who not only joined and heavily interacted with fans on there, but he also sent ME a friend request. He was (and still is, I hope) lovely, and he and Kat seem to be mad about each other.
Also we’re practically the same age and he still looks like he did in 2001 which is absurd. Man’s got serious branding.
Also also this is the greatest piece of aggressively positive music ever recorded. The ending is pure heart clenching, lump in your throat hope for the dispossessed and weird:

Start of the new album (just giving it a listen now) is seriously Angelo Badalamenti-ish. Which, I’ll be completely honest, I was not expecting in the slightest.
I know a lot of people dismiss Andrew as being a one-note party metal dude but this is going to surprise folks. Cinematic, Floating Points meets David Lynch stuff.

He made an album of improvised piano pieces nearly 20 years ago 
Released on Thurston Moore’s old label as well!

He used to play/produce/provide studio space to loads of the noise bands from around Michigan before he made it big. Notably, he’s on a few Wolf Eyes releases from the mid-late 90s.
