Yeah we’re in hypothesis town for sure but in terms of raw ability I see no match for Kyrgios owing to his power. Reminiscent of Sampras to me - will win a lot of points on his serve but also has the back-up game to win when people like Murray and Nole are banging everything back over.

I doubt he’ll reach his full potential owing to his cavalier attitude which will probably extend to his fitness if he’s not careful. He could either win 10 Slams or be retired by 30. Who knows.

yeah. think he probably has the most potential of his generation but it’s really hard to predict how players will turn out cos development is so piecemeal and it takes far longer for some to break through than others.

True all dat. Djokovic bloomed pretty late. Murray’s not really bloomed as such, more kept incrementally improving and is now reaping rewards for staying in touch with the big 3 who have all started to decline (Federer and Nadal - definitely; Djokovic - too early to tell what his decline will look like).

But yeah central point is Kyrgios - get your shit together lad because greatness is possible.

I think Raonic might get over the line at a slam next year. I guess Wimbledon would be the best bet, but he could certainly win either of the hardcourt slams, assuming he can keep his shit together when he’s leading.

For Andy next year for sure it’s got to be all out for the Oz and/or the French, because like Eric Bristow and Alexander the Great there are no new lands to conquer.

It wouldn’t be ridiculous to think that Murray could win all four slams next season.

nobody’s done it since 1969 (nice) so pretty unlikely

But not ridiculous.

I think Thiem and Zverev both have better chance of winning a grand slam than Kyrgios. They both have the power to match Kyrgios but appear more focused. Kyrgios can be a top 10 player and can always cause upsets on his day but I can’t see him putting the consistency together to win a grand slam.

pretty ridiculous imo, i’d be happy enough to see him win more than a single slam in a season.
these long term projections based on short term form are never really accurate, think the ridiculous heights federer and djokovic have hit have made people underestimate what it takes to properly dominate the tour

He hasn’t really surpassed their levels at their peak has he? Nadal, Djokovic and Federer achieved much more in the game and were much better players at their peak than Murray.

This thread keeps coming back and reminding me that Aggpass effectively ‘like-rides’ on coattails here.

say what now?

I think likes should be disabled for pictures/Gifs. It’s cheating! Especially for people with photoshop skills.

Also, the most popular users should all be banned from getting likes too.

Thanks Theo.

not like I just put a :'D under it or something. I added laughs to the collective user experience of the boards, as I have consistently done throughout my time here.

But he’s had the tenacity to stay at the top (and improve) as they all fall away from their peak levels.

True, he deserves a lot of credit for that. It has also helped Murray (and Djokovic) that none of the younger players have stepped up as Federer/Nadal started to decline through age/ injury.
