Be better if they did more than just tilt their heads
Some i have seen made to sing I feel good by James brown which is not good either
Imagine getting someone a birthday present and its a video of their deceased relative doing that
‘Well, do you like it? ’
Very odd. I think you’d need to tread very carefully when doing this because the potential of upsetting people could be massive. If someone did one of my dad I would be fucking fuming.
I am really anti this. I didn’t think we should be injecting personalities onto long dead people and just turning them into puppets. Seems really invasive to me. Don’t think I can totally express why it makes me feel i uneasy, but it does!
i saw a video of some guy showing his parents their (long dead) parents being animated like that and they thought it was great and started crying and that
pretty creepy imo
Like I’m alright with someone taking some old pictures and making a collage out of them, but this… not nice I don’t think
not long until there’s an animated corpse of steve jobs telling you to buy the new iphone or whatever
not into it
I agree. Holograms of musicians really doesn’t sit right with me
Yeah like when kanye surprised kim with a hologram of her dead dad as a gift, she was so happy. I would be traumatised if someone confronted me with a hologram of my dead dad
My dad died when I was 31, took me until my early 40’s to look at old video footage of him and it floored me immediately. It’s a very personal thing grief isn’t it. This feels like the start of something that could end up with our dead relatives taking part in tiktok videos. No thanks.
This, my sister found comfort in old photos when our dad died but I could barely look at them without getting very upset
Completely manipulative on so many levels, though if we weren’t so bound by exploitative capitalism and ‘the spectacle’ I can actually think of some decent uses for this tech ie grief therapy and ‘bringing history to life’ etc
Has a very uncanny-valley quality to it in this format, far too Hogwarts stairwell too
In other news, it’s suddenly struck me just how much my boss is the spitting image of Eleanor Roosevelt
Get up!
Scrolling through that Instagram feed up there and it just turns everyone into the same person
Horrible
…from when they were alive.
RIGHT.
Think it might be creepy or upsetting if it was someone you knew, but maybe interesting to get a better sense of an ancestor you never met. My mum’s got this photo of, i think, her mum’s nan and great aunt when they were maybe 20-something, and I’ve always wondered what colour their dresses were and stuff like that, and we aren’t 100% sure which one is which and that, so i can see it would be interesting to get a sense of how your great great grandma would have looked as a real person
Nope
