Nah

Most binge drinkers are probably middle class mothers in places like Crouch End who don’t bother the NHS at all, most likely.

'fraid so sadlad

Think some of the heaviest binges I’ve had in the last year’s been with my fellow board members tbqh

Not helping paralytic people via the NHS isn’t going to stop people drinking imo

Not that anyone in this thread is particularly suggesting that tbf

i take it you just mean for yourself not taking friends into A&E ?

They should obviously be helped by the NHS, and anyone who suggests otherwise is 100% a Tory, but there ought to be a better place for it than a&e, which isn’t really the right environment for drunk people, and they can be a massive burden on nurses and doctors time. Not sure what that solution is though

Doesn’t mean they’re not twats.

Also, I don’t agree they are most binge-drinkers. Town is heaving with binge drinkers most nights and they aren’t middle class mothers from Crouch End.

I thought he was called Discobot because this is a music forum and ‘disco!’ Colour me corrected!

I’ve worked in A+E over several Christmas and New Year’s and the drunk people make it a nightmare. Often a genuinely dangerous place to be a nurse or doctor. They still need treatment, duty of care and whatnot, and there are genuine mishaps like someone tripping and breaking their arm after a few sherries or something, but the number of them who are brought in unconscious by mates or paramedics because they can’t handle their drink is appalling. Overburdens an already creaking system and the huge amount of violence and aggression aimed at staff during the holidays is not at all okay. We could solve it by making it clear that people need to take more responsibility for how they choose to party, and society needs to do more to educate people on how to drink responsibly, too.

It’s almost as if these problems are structural!

Well, no, you won’t see those middle class mothers binge drinking because they’re doing it at home with a nice chardonnay or pinot grigiot blush.

Yeah, for you, not escorting someone to A&E

Here’s something I’ve been thinking about lately.

Actually forgot to put a carnivore option which is also the best approach. Would’ve been interesting to see if anyone put that

Jordan Peterson style?
