Oh yeah, that one. I quite like it, tbh.

Yeah I like it too. The closed down shopping area is a bit of an eyesore though.

Architect’s idea of how they could do it up:

Edit: turns out current plans seem to be to put a big Tesco or something there, which seems a massive waste on the seafront.

might move there tbh

how brutal is the commute into london?

It’s not brutal, just expensive.

It’s a lovely brand new Eurostar type train into St Pancras in 90 minutes. Rarely late as it has its own line. I just looked up the price per week on the train website and it’s £133 for a 7 day season ticket. £36 for a single before 9 without a railcard, £25 after 9. With a SE Railcard it’s £17 return after 10am.

very much of a mind to move somewhere like this but feel a bit bad as the wife has only been in london a couple years compared to my decade, i’m a bit over it. just wanna line up a load of boring, easy work where i can work from home with my dog(s) and go for a walk on the beach.

I feel like the fun has gone out of London these days.

Both sides of my family come from London, and have lived there for hundreds of years (like my paternal grandmother’s family seemed to spend a solid century moving to different houses in the same street in Battersea), but I don’t have a single relative there now. The nearest one is Morden.

i really loved it for a good 7 years which is not a bad stint at all, but mostly just exhausted by it now

this was about how long I lasted …& then after 8 years I moved to Paris

Literally my favourite place on earth.

I’m a Medway towns boy, so travel far and wide to most places in Kent. Love Ramsgate Music Hall, love Fuggles, always head down to the White Cliffs Beer Festival on February.

Two good friends of mine live in Whitstable which is lovely, they moved there about 7 years ago after spending a few years in Folkestone. When they lived in Folkstone we’d always visit Dungeness which is also great.

I live in East Surrey a couple of miles from Kent, but go out in Kent quite a bit mainly to visit castles and stuff. Tonbridge is great, but I didn’t know about that beer place that @hip_young_gunslinger mentioned so I’m going to have to rectify that.

Me! I grew up there. Moved away at 18, back at 21 then away again at 28.

I live in Rochester now, which is anhour away.

Pete Doherty and Carl Barat are opening a hotel in cliftonville. This is not a joke.

Medway represent!

A week in Margate will be fine. I (and others) can give you a list of recommendations for cool things to do / see. There are also nice places nearby that you could visit.

Also, Kent MEAT anyone?!
