i’d never heard of it before despite being sort of my neck of the woods, but I immediately hate it. Know plenty of wankers back home that probably go to this.

I got to the site on a coach at about 10.30 so I was near the front of the queue to get in. They opened the gates to go through security a bit after 11 and so by 11.55 I had done security and wristbands.

The site was meant to open at midday. For some reason they couldn’t actually let us in at the advertised time so we had to wait between the wristbands and the actual site entrance. This section did actually have a system of barriers to keep the crowd in a proper queue. I had a look on twitter and they said they were completing final checks, maybe places were waterlogged from the storm on Wednesday or maybe that had just delayed the set up. I was in that queue for about 90 minutes before getting into the site. My mates arrived 3+ hours after me and got stuck for at least 5 hours. Grim.

From talking to other people, comments on facebook and the article posted up thread I was just really lucky that I arrived so early. I didn’t bother to start on the beers or anything cos there was a lot of people and I couldn’t see any toilets anywhere. Unsurprisingly a lot of people in the queue with me got quite tetchy about needing a wee/some water and we were only really stuck for 90 minutes.

Festival was fun overall and was really well organised other than the problems that have been widely reported. Toilets were the best I’ve experienced at a festival, plenty of food options, it got really busy around the big stages for the biggest acts but never felt problematic. Had to show ID to get my wristband (adults and under 18s had different tickets) which was fine but I then got ID’d at the bar which was stupid - I already had an adult wristband.

They need toilets, water points and a properly organised queuing system at the entrance next time. Even if no one ends up queuing for ages like this time it’s not worth the risk of people being stuck and getting ill or angry.

Drugs everywhere, unsurprisingly. On the Monday morning I saw a small police cordon around an area near me in the campsite with a couple of officers taking statements from two girls. No idea what it was about but can’t have been good.

The only good thing that came from waiting in the queue was that twitter gave me this moment of genuine funny

I don’t really like The Mesmerist but they do occasionally have some good live bands on. If any pub in Brighton was to put on an electroswing night I suspect it would be The Mesmerist. I wonder if the folks at Blind Tiger Club run it…

Mesmerist has Lindy Hop nights

I know this as I went on a date with a girl who was into Lindyhop - and she made me go along to the mesmerist later on to see it in action.

Deff not for me - but there was no electro going on amongst the hopping and swinging that I can recall

They mean electroswing, don’t they

there will also be freakshows, caberet, Victorian conmen, penny dreadful chracters and Steampunk meets Dieselpunk decor. so that’s ok
