Anyone else watch this in Music class during secondary school?

It is and it’s in their good section but I am no historian but I’d guess it’s very much ahistoric because it’s story over accuracy.

Sonic The Hedgehog (2020) - 1/5

(still got 40 mins left)

I really didn’t think it was that bad but for clarity, reviews of films we’re watching go here

Probably helped that I watched it with my daughter who seemed really enjoy it.

oops - could someone move my post please @moderators

Ha, I don’t think it’s that important. Just use the other thread if you have any deep thoughts about Sonic, although (a) I’m really not sure you could have any of those and (b) there might even be a dedicated all thread to the film thanks to that horror of a trailer they dropped originally.

This is not really true…buuuuuut, Australia is a bit of a nightmare for this sort of thing because they have PG and then M, which is like if the UK just had PG and 15A, no 12A and no restrictions on who can see 15s.

So when Fox content dropped on Disney+ as ‘Star’ in order to allow your child the right to watch stuff like Avengers Assemble and Iron Man…you also have to give them the right to watch Die Hard, Alien/s and Predator.

Yippee Ki Yay, motherfuckering kids!!!

speaking of PG ratings, my director’s cut Blu-Ray of Amadeus might be the only PG film to feature a topless scene

Is that part of the director’s cut stuff?

Also I note the BBFC website seems to have removed its historic ratings data which is a shame. Was interesting sometimes to see how resubmission had altered a film’s rating.

(ie I can’t check to see if it was down rated)

Trading Places would like a word

EDit: it’s a 15, could have sworn it was a PG as my parents let us rent it and they were quite strict I thought

Yeah it’s only in the director’s cut version, the PG certificate on the back says ‘Mild scary scenes, nudity, sex references and language’ - though curiously the Blu-Ray disc itself has two PG certificates (one British, one Irish) and two 12 certificates (one German, one unknown!)

There’s thousands of films which are a PG where a character doesn’t have a top on

Don’t see Chewbacca wearing one for example

Thought Raw was fantastic so looking forward to this.

I think the 70s and 80s BBFC was a very weird group. Always felt like you can really feel their classist etc assumptions in their rating. Basically a small group of rich upper middle class Hampstead mates.

Maybe Amadeus is a PG because they thought it was the sort of film their kids should see.

Also in the 90s

The guy who was in charge for years (James someone?) apparently considered himself a bit of an editor and enjoyed getting involved with “improving” scenes by making “creative” cuts

They were all over the place for a while. There was definitely an element of “the proles can’t be trusted not to let their kids watch this stuff, and can’t be trusted themselves not to be driven wild by these dangerous images”

I think Raw is a modern classic. So hyped for this.

I’m a very big fan of the “Coming of age/ owning your monstrosity” metaphor
