Evil Dead Rise got some decent buzz at SXSW…saw the trailer before JW 4 and looked fairly generic.
Godland was showing in Iceland when I was there last week and would’ve been the perfect place to watch, but just didn’t have time.
This is Paddington 4, by my reckoning. Paddington 3 was the Queen’s death.

Looking at the ostendible ‘big-hitters’ from May-August this year
Should do well: Mission Impossible 7, GOTG3, Fast X, Barbie
Genuinely no idea: Oppenheimer, Across the Spider-Verse, The Flash, The Little Mermaid
Probably doing badly: Indiana Jones 5, Elemental, Transformers
May as well have set fire to a pile of money: Blue Beetle, Haunted Mansion
Spider-verse is going to make a shit tonne of money. It’s properly the only super hero film that people are hyped for.
Online hype doesn’t count for a whole lot. Into the Spider-Verse did well, but it didn’t make anything like as much as other Spider-Man films (the Amazing Spider-Man films which nobody likes made twice as much) or other animated films. Hopefully this one will do as well or almost as well as Into the Spider-Verse but it’s hard to know given the crowded schedule and no idea how much of the audience has been conditioned to just watch stuff at home now
