Wut. I thought she was Northern Irish

Am I living in an alternate reality because I swear everything she posts about is northern Ireland and Catholicism???

Definitely yes to the Catholic bit. I didn’t know where she came from though.

Hahaha

i’m not sure how calling potential voters tribalistic morons who vote for “nodding dogs” is a good strategy but then i remember this is targeted at sympathetic journalists who like TiG want to feel like they’re better than everyone else and it makes sense.

The party of the working class is harking back to a miserable time of Spam fritters and tomatoes that taste of wet whilst selling it as nobility.

absolutely bizarre

is this the blinder?

Newport West: LAB HOLD

Turnout down from 67 per cent to 37 per cent, apparently the weather was bad. Not sure what you can read into it really, other than that it wasn’t the disaster for Labour many were hoping for

Turnout at by-elections is never great, tbf. Just looked up Stoke and Copeland from 2017, they were like 38% and 51%.

Oh, definitely, by election in bad weather is a recipe for weird results. But this one doesn’t look too weird.

Excited to see who’s going to publish the first Why the Newport West By-Election Was a Disaster For Labour piece though

I’m presuming the Guardian will publish both that and an Owen Jones piece claiming its a stunning victory.

Yeah was almost a textbook by-election in a safely held seat in that turnout was low and the government lost vote share and the smaller parties all increased. Labour also lost vote share but I wouldn’t read much into that. I mean they lost Copeland in which was one of the worst by-election results in recent times but then went on to get 40% at a GE 3 months later :upside_down_face:

YouGove did a poll that includes the Brexit Party but not Tinge UK, because… I really don’t know?

IIRC the Brexit Party an officially registered party whereas TINGE aren’t yet

It’s pretty jokes that CHUK are pulling off all their votes from the Tories rather than Labour, which is obvious in advance to everyone except them

Sure, but other pollsters have included them, and I don’t think Farage’s merry band have ever stated an intention to run candidates at a GE. Probably just trying something out, the inclusion of Tinge has been spotty anyway.

Anyway, a quick bit of googling found this:

Brilliant stuff

Thought this was quite interesting, from BE’s poll aggregation

No Tinge but a clear drift of voting intention away from the big two back to smaller parties across the board. Nobody coming out of Brexit well, SURPRISINGLY eh

All very interesting but I’d expect that to snap back in the context of a GE with the 2 main parties achieving a comparable joint vote share to 2017…

Oh, absolutely. Once the discussion gets off Brexit (if it ever does) and back to the domestic agenda…

Huh, that doesn’t track really track with the polls I’ve seen over the last few weeks, which predominantly have Labour a few points ahead. Although there’s a chance the UKMT isn’t sharing the negative ones.

BREX: 5% (-)
GRN: 4% (-)

This is really quite depressing.
