Given we (West Ham) have the most scumbag owners in the league I’m amazed we haven’t announced similar yet. Assume it’s coming

Basically all modern football clubs are as bad as each other

Ehh, you’re always going to see dickheads on twitter - I think 99% of Liverpool fans irl are pissed off about it. Not that it’s representative, but the top of the Liverpoolfc subreddit is just “turns out FSG are capitalists”, so hopefully it’ll at least radicalise some people against the wealthy :crossed_fingers:

(PS I do agree with your post, though)

It’s the response that people do when their social media intern shares a picture of their team scoring a goal or if someone delivers a zinger to a supporter of another club on social media

Take the L i believe is an American sports term for take the loss or defeat

W is a win or even worse it’s written as dub

E.g.

Fan 1: it’s bad that Liverpool haven’t paid their staff

Liverpool fan 1: shut up we beat you 2-1 this season

Liverpool fan 2: loooool big dub!

Yeah I’m trying to tell myself that, I’m equally disappointed with the Spurs fans reactions.

Spirit of Shankly haven’t covered themselves in glory with their response though

The people in the replies to any club’s social media presence cannot and should not be considered indicative of that club’s actual proper supporter-base.

Ohhh dub means W! I genuinely didn’t realise that.

But yeah, Twitter just brings out the worst, and Reddit is at least slightly more representative of normal people. Slightly. Some of it’s a bit RAWK meltdown, but people seem pretty universally fucked off with it. From the daily megathread on r/liverpoolfc:

We’ve been made to look like greedy capitalist nonces by the Mancs and I think that portrays how ridiculous of a situation we’re into. I just hope the board will come to their senses and do the right thing.

I think they will reverse the decision. They are probably crafting the press releases and looking for the fall guy now.

Man city fans trying to take the moral high ground regarding ownership when their entire squad has been built through the human rights abusing slave owners thousands of miles away is a bit rich isn’t it?

I’m with them on this one chief. Some things go beyond fans scoring points.

I’m absolutely baffled that the club still hasn’t communicated anything what so ever. What the fuck.

The whole thing is rotten, don’t want to see anything about the club unless it’s a reversal of this mental decision.

I’m so angry with the decision to use taxpayers’ money to pay the staff. What a way to tarnish our achievements this season. And for what? To save what probably amounts to no more than a few months of just one of our first team player’s wages. Disgusted. And of course, all of our rivals are coming out of the woodwork now to announce that they won’t use the government scheme. It’s funny isn’t it, how fast things fall apart. A month ago, we were living in dreamland. And since then, we’ve had the season come to a halt, dropped out of the Champions League and the FA Cup, we lost the unbeaten run, and now this. What’s next?

i’m surprised that you are all surprised. do you all not remember fsg taking a sponsorship from tibet water? or when it turned out that their living wage promise didn’t apply to subcontractors? i am disappointed too but this is par for the course. billionaires are scum, have always been, and will always be

Liverpool fans are vocal. One of the reasons why I love watching them play, is the atmosphere created at Anfield. We didn’t get the unbearables name for being quiet.
Now is the time to be vocal as a fan base to show our view of the club’s action to furlough.
I don’t know what is the best way to do this but hopefully someone here does.
Is there more we can do?

I think what @anon5266188 said is true, I think it’s just atm the only thing any of us can see is stuff online so maybe those opinions and comments are pissing me off more than they usually would

Highlights from Leeds v Deportivo in the quarter finals of the 2001 Gazprom popped up somewhere a day or two back - good to see both teams have gone from strength to strength since then.

An absolutely huge percentage of the people on Twitter spreading the 5G stuff are Liverpool fans. Like…almost all of them. Not a development i saw coming.

Ken Early had something of a #HotTake on Second Captains today, saying there’s nothing really wrong with successful multimillion pound businesses taking up the government’s furlough scheme, saying it wasn’t really specified for struggling businesses or whatever. Also that the money is completely distinct from “taxpayer’s money”.

Not sure if I fully bought it but he made more of a compelling case than I’m paraphrasing here, saying it’s part of that wider general narrative/moral logic of “it’s shameful to take money from the government thing”. Worth listening to.
