Not having heard of a female Marvel character is not embarrassing. It’s probably more embarrassing if you can think of a legitimate answer. No shame it writing “dunno”, which is what I would’ve done if I hadn’t cheated.

Would’ve been a one horse race if OvertakenByTractors had allowed Radiohead. Don’t think there’s a single properly good band amongst all of the answers given.

Pretty sure that literally evert point of view on this has been heard now and I would suggest that we leave it to the quizmaster to decide on what rules he wants to use for the quiz that he is organising. Going back and forth over this for 500 replies will absolutely not get us anywhere or change anyone’s mind

If it’s to find the most popular answer then Googling isn’t so bad, but I reckon you should always just go with your gut instinct on these things. I missed the last AQOS but I’ve always just gone with the first thing I think of…and don’t my record show it?

If you ever do the reverse (Pointless rules) then Googling is an absolute no-no.

tbh I do. I can understand why meow feels picked on a bit and that wasn’t my intention, but this debate has gone on in this thread and also ran right through the last ‘answers’ thread as well so feels like it needs to be resolved, mainly because NV puts a lot of time and effort into it and in my personal view it’s disrespectful to be constantly going on about it.

While I’m a passionate non-Googler I think it’s important that Googling is allowed so I can use that to justify my shit performances in the quiz.

My personal favourite bits of the quiz were when a bunch of people picked Germany for the question “a landlocked country”. Googling would’ve presumably helped these people make an actual correct answer, but considering they still got points for a wrong answer, it’s not a huge deal. If I were in charge I’d ban googling but it’s not the end of the world.

I reckon googling would massively take the fun out of it for me. My enjoyment in taking part, apart from the results thread back and forth, is thinking of an answer and then having to decide if that’s what other people are going to pick. If I haven’t got an answer I’ll just say something daft and hope it raises a smile somewhere. Just looking at a list on a screen and picking the top one would be dull af. If you want to google, go ahead, but I’ll be having a microscopic amount more fun than you.

sharp_yet_blunt once surveyed whether people googled. Hardly anyone admitted to it so I imagine any discussion of it is likely to be pointless. Either people were being honest and don’t google anyway, or they’ll keep doing it and being dishonest about it.
